We are moving ahead with the cross-over and pack campout tonight. The weather seems to be holding for us. Please join us at Camp Drake for a good time!
Set up for camping is a 3pm at Tulip Point at Camp Drake.
We will start cooking at 5pm, with dinner beginning at 5:30. Please join us for a pot luck dinner (bring a
side to share!) and then stay for our May awards and the boys’ Crossover to their
Camping is optional after the Crossover Ceremony. If you would like
more information regarding the Camp Out please contact Jonathan Ashbrook at
Send your RSVP’s for both the dinner and the campout
to Susan McKee at email@example.com. You may attend the dinner without
camping out! The RSVP is so we can plan on food (we are providing the hot dogs,
hamburgers, drinks, smores, and breakfast- Yum!)
The Pinewood Derby was a great success. A total of 29 Cub Scouts tried out our fast new track. Each den had its own race, with each car racing 4 times. The total score for a car was the average of its 3 best runs. For privacy reasons, we’ve only provided Scouts’ last names and first initials in the results.
We also had “open class” racing for parents, friends, siblings, and secondary Scout cars. This is always popular, and this year we decided to integrate it more tightly with the other races.
Open Class Standings
Finally, we took all of the Cub Scouts in the pack and had another as one unit. In the spirit of time, each Scout raced two times. His final standing was determined by his best time. The timer added an interesting new dimension to the racing and does a good job of showing how competitive our cars are. In the full pack standings, notice that only 0.01s separates places 4-8.
Full Pack Standings
We also had a competition for the best looking cars. We will post those results shortly.
Except for one windows meltdown caused by the race software or the timer, our first experience with the new system was great.
If you have any questions or would like additional results, just contact Jonathan.
This weekend (March 19) is Pack 42’s Pinewood Derby!
This will be the premiere of our brand new track!
The festivities begin Friday night with a track test from 6:30 to 7:30 in the old gym at the Homer Elementary School. This is a chance to come and get a preview of how your car runs on the real track. We will also have the scales to make sure you’re as close to the 5 ounce limit as possoble.
On Saturday, registration begins at 12:00. Please come early so that we have everyone registered before the races begin promptly at 1:00.
Today’s Engineer Day is being postponed due to the bad weather. Stay tuned for the new date.
Pack 42 will be collecting canned food in Homer this Saturday 1/29 starting at 2:00. Please meet at the Village Hall at 2:00 to divide up the town. The more boys who help, the quicker it goes.
Come join us on Saturday, December 11 at 6:00 or our Pack 42 Christmas Party. We will be watching Polar Express. After the movie, a certain man in a red suit might even stop by.
Wear your PJs and bring a plate of cookies to share. The pack will provide hot chocolate and fun!
